How Do I Implement Filter Settings?

Each filter has its usages, see what the different settings are and which will work best for you.

Applying a filter is easy, but filter settings is an extra step to be aware of.

Nucleus allows for many different types of filtering, found by clicking the gear between the eye and the “x”. In this page we will cover a few common filters, but feel free to play around with the different filter options to see which option fits best!

  • Multi-Selection (Default)
  • Dropdown
  • Button Bar
  • Search

Multi-Selection

Multi-Selection is the default filtering setting. Like its name states, the Multi-Selection setting allows you to select multiple groupings at once.

This allows for the user to only filter on specific sections of their data to look at exact numbers (like the organic search visitors to your site) or filter out other areas to get a better understanding of your data (like excluding your homepage so you see how you other pages are performing).

It’s quick and easy to use. Just click the box to access the available group filters:

And select which specific group(s) you are filtering by.

Once you made your choices, hit the ✅ to apply them to the chart.

Dropdown

The Dropdown setting is another common filter setting. Straight to the point, the Dropdown selects a single grouping and excludes all others.

Just click the box to access the available group filters:

And select which specific group(s) you are filtering by:

The chart will update automatically and you will only see the information with the filter applied.

Search

The Search setting lets you manually type in and search the grouping you are going to be filtering by.

After selecting the setting, click the box to type in your desired metric.

One special thing about the Search setting is its use of Boolean Search Operators. This means that you can adjust the search using “AND”, “OR”, and “NOT

AND: Showing the Channel Groupings with “E” AND “R” in the name.

OR: Showing all Channel Groupings with “Direct” OR “Search” in the name.

NOT: Showing all the Channel Groupings that do NOT have “Search” in the name.

Using these operators you can make sure that you are segmenting your data so you can see all the little details.

Now you know 3 different filter settings you can use in Nucleus! Find out your goals and see what works best for you!
